August 18, 2008

Hey there,

How's the summer treating you?  It's been nothing but travel on this end, but here's a Naked Mic from the road!  It is my pleasure to introduce two new poets: Brittany, who presents a brief, yet lovely, piece, and Emily, who's sent in an enthralling poem in two parts.  Also, this month Lieke combines her skills in both visual art and poetry to present some compelling work.

This month's fiction piece has been held back for some last minute editing, but hopefully that will make it all the better when it's posted in the near future.

Enjoy, and thanks for stopping by.

Hello Ladies and Gentleman,

It's my pleasure to announce a brand new mic, the first mic of summer.  For your pleasure and entertainment, allow me to introduce a lovely song by our newest artist from Cape Town, Syd, along with an exciting new film by Alicia.  Let me add that a picture is worth a thousand ED-Words, and he's presenting eleven in his photography debut!

As an added bonus, you can also read poems by the mic's most prolific artists, David and me.

There are some extra clicks involved this time . . . what can I say?  I got carried away.

Enjoy. Submit. Send. Love.

And there's a new ed-word

Happy June.

May 19th, 2008

Hey--guess what?  It's the Naked Mic's 1 year anniversary! So, thank you for a year of art and performance!  I'd like to especially thank our courageous artists, many of whom have shyly shared their art for the first time.  They deserve a round of applause.

I couldn't let the anniversary slip by, so I've made a "year in review" page.  Click here to see all of the year's performances and choose your favorites for some very special prizes!  The page will run until May 31st, and prizes will be announced June 1st.

Looking forward, I've already received some poetry from Cape Town and a film from Stillwater--they'll be featured when we kick of year 2 in June, along with a new ed-word.  And you can still send in your work for that upcoming mic as well.

One more thing--I've redone the Grapevine.  It seems to work better in a more open format, so you can check out the new version here.

And thanks to everyone for a wonderful year!

Much love,

-The Naked Mic

        Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

Hang onto your hats!  The Naked Mic is revised, refreshed, and renewed for spring!  The latest mic features seven new artists for your enjoyment, along with a new poem by Brina.  David's read a new book, Seek, that he's raving about, and there are a few funny Easter cartoons hanging out on the features page.

And there's finally a new café!  Click around there for your internet refreshment.

Do enjoy, spread the word, and, always, thanks for coming.

        Peace.
