Last Time as Easy as Death
by BrinaLast time as easy as death
she put her skin out
in the world like a spidernet
and perhaps cold like a cobblestone
and a boy grew.As smooth as the last time
the boy said you're grapevine
of wonder and red cobblestone mine
and the whole of a net is a world is our
c o m m o n h o m e
where even gravestones have names
in death as in life there’s nothing to regret.Nonetheless,
and rushing down the staircase blue
memory falls out of my pockets
bounces like reason, crashes
down
into the immense emptiness
down
with great watercolour marbles
ringing still
memory fell out of my hair –
like spring.And there’s no reason
to rush down the staircase
of lost childhood that bled blue
like a home one has to run to.
And there’s no reason
to remember anymore
d e a t h
that for what there was no reason to regret. From last time it is simply she who spreads together
her skin smooth as a cobblestone
while he grows (alone).
