My Souira
                                             by Ulla

The terrace is spreading herself out
in the midday sun.
like a girl sure of her privacy.
Inviting us into her warmth.
I look out over the rooftops and see:
Generations before me!
The ocean! The houses! The Moske!
On the roofs are things
from the last centuries,
still in use.
Plus the latest:
Rusty parables!
I am truly in many places
at one time!

When I close my eyes,
I´m back within your walls.
I walk down your alleys.
I float down Sidi Abdesmih
and enter El Mehdi,
when you are all sleeping.
I embrace you all forever.
Do you sense me here?
There are walls within the walls!
But I see through them
and there is your heart.
Drawing me, into your spirit of love:
Forever!

The beach at sundown,
is a magical place.
The ballade of the seagulls!
People strolling,
enjoying the beauty.
Oh, how I love you "Souira"!
Your calm pace,
your intimacy with life:
The freedom that draws us all!
